the most striking things will be the fact that long time member Michael Anthony, who formerly played bass is now absent. In his place, Wolfgang Van Halen, the son of Eddie Van Halen will be playing. Some fans have been disappointed with this selection, as Anthony has been with Van Halen for a number of years.
Another big factor is the lead singer they have chosen- Van Halen has always been notorious for its relationship with its vocalists, particularly David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar. Roth was Van Halen's first main vocalist and he established himself with a goofy kind of persona and on-stage antics. However, tensions within the band grew and Roth eventually split. He was replaced by another charismatic singer called Sammy Hagar, who steered the band into a completely new sound that had nothing of the Roth influence to it. Over the years, Hagar, Roth and Van Halen would go back and forth, coming together and falling apart numerous times. Hagar and Roth even got together to do a tour of their own.
